It is funny to me how every sport has its own sideline culture. Emma is making the hop this year from rec to select soccer. She played in her first 3 v. 3 tournament this weekend and it was an eye opening experience for all of us. We are making the switch with some trepidation, knowing that our lives will get even busier but feeling that it is worth it to give her better instruction/competition.
Their team did excellent, won all four of their games, and came home with medals for the top spot in their age group. We showed up for the day with a blanket, a bag of snacks, and some sunscreen. Apparently I have some homework to do before next time. In order to fit in, I am going to need a tent, a cooler for drinks, a cooler for sweat towels, a cooler for ice, a cooler for lunch, an industrial mist machine, chairs for a crowd, a boombox, portable fans, a small dog, blankets and pillows for naps, and snacks to feed an army. Oh, and a bigger car to pack it all in.
It took me a solid year to get the baseball packing routine down. I guess I just need a closet for each sport to keep things under control.
Maybe I should steer Halle and Eli toward a future in the arts.

That is so funny. We have friends whose kids are really into soccer and there are pictures on their blog of the husband creating some crazy heater thing and they huddled around it on the sidelines. You will have to keep us filled in as to the ins and outs of being a soccer mom.
Oh my gosh that is ridiculous, but emma kicks up dust in soccer so its worth it i'll start raising some money it sounds like you are going to need a lot of coolers.
