Merry Clinch-mas!!

I admit, my husband's baseball obsession drives me nuts sometimes .  He has followed this team for too many years to count.....and I don't even want to add up the hours and money spent on games, autographs, and team paraphanelia.  The Reds have had a lot of good and bad years and I completely cede to my fair weather-fan status but Travis (and now, Jordan) have been waiting for this day for a very long time.

Even I got chills watching this footage from last night's game.......what a way to clinch the division!

You better believe they didn't miss this game.  Travis is seriously the Forrest Gump of sporting events......he has found a way to be at just about every noteworthy game over the last 10 years.

High-fiving all the cars in the parking garage at midnight after the game.  Funny, I am perfectly content to watch all this footage from the comfort of my own home but the boys wouldn't miss being there in person for the world.

Go Reds!!

Go Reds!!

I couldn't get blogger to let me add this video to my latest post but, here are four minutes of crazy footage from where the boys were sitting when the Reds clinched the division title.

yum yum

"The Ribs King."
This is the face we all have when eating Montgomery Inn ribs.  Definitely a local favorite.  If you are
ever in the Cincinnati area, call us and we'll go get some!

My view from the sidelines......

At six, it is still sharks v. minnows, poison-ball, mud-monsters, and general fun just running around.

It gets a bit more serious and competitive over the next few years.........and if you yell any form of encouragement during practice, i.e. "listen to your coach!" or, "you should be winning that ball!".......you may get a reaction like this one.
Ahhh, eight years old......is such a lovely age.

Hallelujah!

It is finally that time of year again......the most wonderful time.  Our kids got out two weeks early in the spring and then went back two weeks late due to construction going on at the high school.  It has been a very long summer!  I put together a little celebration video to share.....you may not appreciate it if you get teary-eyed when your kids get on the bus (we've had plenty-o-time to work through those emotions).  Things of note:
Jordan (5th grade):  school wardrobe consists of athletic shorts and t-shirts he collected this summer at baseball tournaments......easy!

Emma (3rd grade):  back to school buys include a "messenger bag" (far cooler than any old backpack), and pretty much every shirt we could find that was emblazoned with a dog.  More on that later.

Horrible-Head-Wound-Halle (1st grade):  scraped off half of her face doing a back flip into the pool last week, perfect timing for school!  She now resembles Groucho Marx and several other key historical figures...

Eli is now the only child at home during the day.......he is really excited about the upcoming post-summer cleaning frenzy (ha!), and I am sure we will have some fun every now and then too.

I have had at least one kid in half-day preschool/kindergarten for the past 8 years so I am celebrating a little scheduling freedom.  Other than being more organized, helping at the school, and doing a few projects here and there, I have big plans to have fun with the little guy.  He is growing up too fast!

Happy Back to School to all!!

a rare daylight occurrence

I think I mentioned recently that naps are like "so six months ago" for this little guy.  But, occasionally he does collapse from being on the go 24/7.  And, usually he falls asleep on a day we have to be somewhere that interrupts his peaceful slumbering.  I just hate waking a sleeping child.....it seems oh so wrong.

But, soccer practice was on the near horizon so I had to do it.
