today.....

our furnace broke.  our house was very cold.  i highly recommend

 changing your filters on a regular basis......say, more often than once every couple

of years.  oh, and a good cleaning/service might be a good 

idea as well.  just a few things i learned today.

also, i watched a dear friend's kids yesterday who is under

the weather.  today, i found out that the small injury her

son incurred while at our church play group (finger stuck

in door) which i put a band-aid on.......was actually a

COMPOUND FRACTURE for goodness sake.  i called

to apologize and even offered to watch the kids again

SO MAYBE I COULD BREAK EVEN MORE OF THEIR

FINGERS, and she didn't take me up on the 

offer.  so sorry again, friend.  and glad it wasn't

his dominant hand so i didn't wreck his sporting

future as well.

my kids spent 45 minutes filling out &%$&^(*&!)! school

fundraising forms.  without being told.  for the sole purpose

of getting a miniature rubber duck for their efforts.  i think they are

brainwashed when it comes to these things.  many of you will be 

receiving postcards in the mail with pleas to "help my school"

by purchasing magazine subscriptions.  some of you may even

get three!  i need to figure out how to harness this power

of persuasion somehow.  i mean, we already have an intercom

system so maybe all i need to do is have them earn rubber ducks

with household chores and then randomly broadcast messages like,

"WOULD ANY CHILD IN THIS HOUSEHOLD WHO POSESSES

A ROCKSTAR/PIRATE/PRINCESS DUCKIE, PLEASE COME TO 

THE KITCHEN TO CLAIM YOUR PRIZE?"

it might be my best parenting idea yet.

the best thing that happened today??  

we can now park both cars in the garage.  it feels good.
